Lionel Messi will be, very likely, leaving FC Barcelona soon. The Argentinian tried to do so during the last transfer window, but ex-president Josep María Bartomeu closed him the exit gate and denied him that chance. Now, Bartomeu is gone and the circumstances are very different.
The contract from the historical no. 10 with the Catalan side ends on June 2021, and he is not thinking on a renewal for now. If such conditions are maintained, Messi could negotiate since January to leave as a free agent during the next summer. As always, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the two top teams that intend to sign him.
While the legend decides his future, Barça is already working to try to find his successor. One of those who have been pointed out as the new Messi is Luka Romero. With just 16 years, the youngster has made his professional debut and played eight games for RCD Mallorca, scoring one goal.
Romero was born at Durango, Mexico, but he lives since very young at Spain and has always played for Argentina national team, as his parents are from that country. With a contract remaining until June 2023, Barcelona is thinking on spending a fortune for him and bet to be the new Messi.
