After Manchester United's 1-0 defeat yesterday against Everton, Premier League fans asked themselves, what happened to Cristiano Ronaldo?
And the question has nothing to do with something bad happening to the player, but with something reprehensible that CR7 did at the end of the match.
In the match in which the Red Devils were defeated by the Toffees, everything went normally until the end of the game, when the players started to head to the locker room.
But just as they were walking down the corridor where the players return to the locker room, a fan took out his phone to take pictures of the players as they passed. And when Cristiano passed by and saw the fan, without thinking, he attacked him and hit his hand, which caused the fan's phone to fall to the floor.
Want to know the worst? The fan was just a 14-year-old boy named Jake who also has an autism spectrum disorder and was attending a soccer stadium for the first time in his life, so thanks to CR7's tantrum, he will never forget this lousy experience.
So far there are two known active investigations into the incident, one ordered from within Manchester United, which was released a few hours after the match ended.
However, the second investigation is more serious as it is being conducted by the police and they are working to determine if charges can be brought.
According to The Guardian, the Merseyside police are taking into account the different angles of the videos and are asking that if anyone has further information about the incident, they should get in touch as soon as possible.
Jake's mother has already given an interview with the Liverpool Echo in which she said that her son's intention was not at any time to attack the player, but only to record them as other people did.
Part of what he told the aforementioned media was: "After 90 minutes, the Manchester United players started to walk. We were in Park End, so we were right next to the tunnel where they were walking through; my son was there filming them all. He filmed all the United players walking.
The mother continued, "And then he put the phone down because Cristiano Ronaldo had pulled his sock down and his leg was bleeding. She put the phone down to see what it was, she didn't even speak. Ronaldo walked past with a terrible temper, snatched the phone out of my son's hand, and kept walking," explained Mrs. Sarah Kelly.
So far, Cristiano Ronaldo has already apologized through his social networks through a message saying:
"You always have to be respectful, patient, and set an example to all young people who love the beautiful game. I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this fun to watch a match at Old Trafford as a sign of sportsmanship and fair play".
But it remains to be seen if the boy's mother will not press charges for assault, as she has all the evidence to do so.
