According to reports from the Spanish newspaper 'Sport', Marco Asensio is very interested in signing for Liverpool and is prepared to make significant changes to meet their recruitment criteria. The report notes that Jurgen Klopp is interested in Asensio to bolster his attack next season.

In order to join the Anfield outfit this summer, the 26 year-old winger is willing to take a significant pay cut. It is unexpected that the Spaniard would suddenly change his mind since it was previously said that he would only sign with a team if he was assured a spot in the starting XI.

Asensio’s contract expires next summer and his current deal earns him around £150,000 a week. Catalan media reports claim that the Spanish star was demanding a deal of between £100,000 and £115,000 a week for an extension, but he is willing to slash his wages further to join the Reds in the Premier League.

Given that the Merseyside club is known for developing a strong rigid pay structure, this may affect the likelihood of the transfer. It has also been claimed that Asensio's price tag has been reduced from £43 million to £26 million by Real Madrid, who are getting tired of his recent attitude.

Other suitors for Asensio

The three-time Champions League champion is also coveted by Scudetto winners AC Milan and Premier League powerhouse Arsenal, but it appears Asensio’s preferred destination would be Liverpool.
