The great season that Girona Futbol Club is having in Spain's first division is attracting the attention of the big clubs in Europe, including Manchester City, prodigal son of the CityGroup, which also owns the Catalan team.

In this sense, Pep Guardiola's team has focused its attention on one of Girona's players for next season. This is Miguel Gutierrez, a 22-year-old full-back, who belongs to Real Madrid.

According to English and Spanish media, the cityzens have sent scouts to Montilivi to visualize the progression of the winger, who apparently would fit perfectly into his team. Guardiola's team is not doing well in the Premier League, so it needs to reinforce some areas of the field, including the left side, where Gutiérrez plays.

Miguel Gutiérrez, 22, has been a fundamental pillar in Girona's defense this season, contributing with his ability in the air, his speed and his ability to create opportunities in attack. Gutiérrez signed until 2027 with Girona thanks to the special insistence of Michel, who had been following him for many years.

What is the relationship between Manchester City and Girona

The cities of Girona and Manchester have a much closer bond than one can imagine. Despite the great distance between both cities, there is an element that has united the Catalan city with the English one: football. Girona FC and Manchester City have been part of the same group of teams since 2017. In this sense, the City Football Group acquired a large part of the Girona club when the rojiblancos were not going through a good economic situation.
