In this afternoon's UEFA Champions League match, Pep Guardiola got a yellow card and gave strong statements about Madrid and the Bernabeu, after the duel against Los Merengues.
Pep Guardiola is the responsible of giving Mexico National Team their new coach
Manchester City's head coach was more than blunt about Real Madrid and the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and will have to be very careful in the second leg, as he received a yellow card in the first leg.
In Manchester City's UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid, the Citizens' head coach picked up a yellow card after protesting to referee Itsvan Kovacs.
Guardiola argued with the referee after asking for a throw-in that had not been awarded to his team, so Pep raised his voice and angrily complained to the referee.
And because this behavior did not seem to Kovacs, he cautioned Guardiola. It should be noted that the Catalan coach, who made history with Barcelona, is already accustomed to receiving this type of sanctions in his career.
Suffice it to recall that Guardiola had the "honor" of being the first head coach of a Premier League team to receive a yellow card in the tournament, which happened in August 2019.
Therefore, Guardiola will have to be careful not to receive another card in the next match against Madrid, because if he wins in this instance against Los Merengues and receives another caution, he could miss the final of the tournament, in case his club reaches it.
Josep Guardiola spoke loud and clear about their upcoming match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and stated that "At the Bernabeu, it doesn't matter if you go in with 1-0 or 2-0".
The Manchester United head coach was blunt with his words and said:
"It was a great game, with great players and with a lot of quality. To win this competition you have to overcome situations that soccer puts in front of you. But this is Real Madrid and the Santiago Bernabeu. They are capable of scoring three goals in ten minutes, they have the quality to do that".
The Catalan added: "Regardless of what happened, we know it will be very difficult. If we play as we did in the second half against Atlético, we won't have a chance. We want to see ourselves on a stage as imposing as the Bernabéu".
The coach is quite right in what he says, as he recalls what happened to PSG, as in the first leg against Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain won with a score of 1-0. And in the second leg, they also opened the scoring with a Mbappé goal.
But Karim Benzema came out inspired and scored a hat-trick to kill off the Parisians' hopes of staying in the tournament. That's why Guardiola's comments are so important, as he knows what Los Merengues are capable of.
In a spectacular match, Manchester City defeated Real Madrid 4-3 in the Champions League semifinals
