The future of Luis Suárez at Atlético de Madrid is set for certain. Whether in this winter market or next summer, one thing seems sure: the Charrúa will not continue in the ranks of the rojiblancos’ squad.
The decision seems to have already been made, even though everything is being handled with the utmost secrecy. The reality is that neither of the two parties seems comfortable with the current situation, so an exit seems the best option.
In this line, there are already several teams that have sounded to incorporate the former FC Barcelona player. The latest, as noted by journalist Gerard Romero through his Twitch channel, is Aston Villa.
The Uruguayan is already in condition to negotiate with a future team, given that in less than six months his contract with Atleti expires, a club he joined in September 2020 signing for two seasons and in which it will be very difficult to agree on his continuity.
Several factors play in favor of Suárez to join the villains. On one side, the figure of a coach like Steven Gerrard, with whom Suarez coincided in the Liverpool ranks, can be a plus of motivation for the striker, who at 34 years of age has to continue giving the maximum to arrive in the best possible conditions for the World Cup in Qatar.
On the other side, the recent landing of Philippe Coutinho at Villa Park is another circumstance that could play in their favor. Brazilian and Uruguayan coincided in the Azulgrana team, always showing a good relationship.
Be that as it may, the fact is that, for now, no figures have been disclosed. The idea is that he arrives before the transfer window closes. As his contract expires in just six months, the Colchoneros’ would be willing to accept a lower negotiation that would be attractive.
Inter Miami is another club that is interested in having the Uruguayan for next season, although now this possibility of returning to the Premier League seems to be the most attractive for the striker. Suarez played in England from January 2011 to July 2014, defending Liverpool (scoring 82 goals in 133 games).
Aston Villa is in the thirteenth position of the English championship and has, among its main players, the Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano 'Dibu' Martínez, the Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz, the English striker Ollie Watkins (current top scorer of the team in the Premier League with five goals), and the Argentine Emiliano Buendía.
