One of the Manchester City players whose future is not assured at the moment is precisely the captain, Iikay Gundogan. The German midfielder's contract expires in the summer and could leave for free. Given this, Pep Guardiola has already confessed that he wants the player to continue, but it will be the player's complete decision.

Faced with this situation, and with the rush that the same transfer market requires, Manchester City is already working on the possible replacement of the German, even though his departure has not been confirmed and the player could even renew, if the conditions are presented in the expected way between the two sides.

Fabrizio Romano, a specialist in transfers, wrote a tweet in which he pointed out that Kovacic has already reached an agreement with Manchester City, so his stay in English soccer is very possible. The midfielder who plays for Chelsea is aware of the uncertainty that exists in the English team, in addition to the fact that they did not even get a place in European competitions.

"Mateo Kovacic has already agreed personal terms with Manchester City after advanced talks revealed last week. "Kovacic wants the transfer, the next step should be between the clubs, as Chelsea and City will discuss the fee after the UCL final. Chelsea are willing to sell Kovacic," the journalist explained.

Will Gundogan leave Manchester City?

The arrival of Kovacic, although it could be an option to boost the citizen midfield, is also a possible plan B before a probable departure of the German, who would be interested in playing for FC Barcelona, according to SPORT. For the moment, the Manchester City captain has not yet officially communicated his future.
