Chelsea defeated Norwich City (1-3) in a new Premier League matchday. It was a difficult match to face. It was time to forget about the ills beyond the pitch and focus on what really mattered. The ball was Chelsea's best way to take refuge from the harsh sanction they received from UEFA on Thursday.

Thomas Tuchel's side came out with a vengeance. It took them less than three minutes to open the scoring. Mason Mount put in a flick from the corner and Chalobah, with a flick from inside the goal to the outside, rose through the Norwich defense to head home his side's opener.  The center-back thanked his coach in the best possible way for the start.

Mount had a sublime first quarter of an hour that began with an assist and culminated with a superb goal. Havertz received the ball on the left flank, faced his marker, and saw the Englishman inside the box, to whom he gave the ball. With a masterful touch to his right, he placed the ball to his right and slammed the ball home to make it 0-2 before the 15-minute mark.

The Blues were unable to score and were forgiving to the home team

Chelsea squeezed and shook a Norwich that only breathed when their rival wanted to. They decided it was a good idea with a two-goal lead and dropped a couple of gears, which the home side took advantage of. Mormann and Zimmermann, with two long-range shots, tested Mendy, but the Frenchman was alert to keep the ball out of his net.

After the Blues went off the boil, the reigning Champions League champions, who will be looking to reach the quarter-finals next week in the second leg against Lille, got the ball rolling again.

Havertz and Saul, who started Thursday's match, had the chance to put the game to bed before the break, but the ball was not to go in. The one who came closest was Kovacic, who with a masterful left-footed shot from the edge of the area was inches away from being a candidate for this year's Puskas award. And for the 'top 3' for sure.

Chalobah's carelessness put Norwich back in the game

Chelsea saved a lot of effort and allowed their opponents to grow, although Chalobah was the one who was most to blame for the Canaries' resurgence. From opening the scoring to committing a blunder: the central defender caused a penalty by avoiding a cross with his hand off his body.

The VAR alerted the referee, who signaled a penalty for the home side and Pukki scored from eleven yards to cut the deficit at Carrow Road.

Even with this goal, Chelsea kept their composure and managed the ball well. They protected their possession and stopped their opponents' momentum. The Londoners put the game to bed just before stoppage time.

Havertz scored his goal after a good assist from Kanté, who only played the final stages when he came on for Kovacic. The German, emulating Mount, albeit with his left foot, sent the ball into the back of the net with a powerful shot inside the box.
