Chelsea wins against Crystal Palace thanks to a late goal by Ziyech

A goal set up by Marcos Alonso and finished off by Moroccan Hakim Ziyech in the last minute gave Chelsea a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at London's Selhurst Park to close in on a third place in the Premier League.

The European champions have now won two Premier League matches in a row. Two London derbies, against Tottenham before the winter break and now against Crystal Palace, have settled them after winning the Club World Cup against Palmeiras.

Chelsea struggled but were rewarded in the end

Thomas Tuchel's side were unable to find the right footing as they got tangled up against an organized opponent, sitting comfortably in the middle of the table and who have now gone six games without a win.

Chelsea did not score until the very end, after a great pass from the left by Marcos Alonso found Ziyech at the far post, who, with a first-time shot, beat Spain's Vicente Guaita to seal the victory.

Tuchel's side are third, but seven points behind second-placed Liverpool. They are also seven points ahead of fourth-placed Manchester United.
