English newspapers The Mirror and Daily Star have just announced a real transfer bombshell: if the information is confirmed, Cavani's return to American soccer would be a major event.

And not only because of the player's quality but also because he would be joining one of the biggest teams in the American continent, River Plate.

The move also draws attention to the fact that the player's trajectory in the continent was very brief, since he played in Danubio's youth teams, and in 2005 he made his debut with the first team, participating in the title obtained by the same team in the Apertura Championship of that year.

The aforementioned newspapers claim that River's urgency for Cavani is because they are about to lose Julián Álvarez, who will curiously arrive at United's eternal rival, Manchester City. 

In fact, according to The Mirror, the departure of Julián Álvarez has paved the way for Cavani's return to America, since River Plate will have Álvarez until the summer, during which time the Charrúa will be free from his commitment to United. 

Although both newspapers did not reveal their source, they did share what the player's conditions would be upon his arrival at River Plate.

Edinson Cavani would receive a two-year contract from River Plate and also agreed to reduce his salary to play with Los Millonarios, who would take advantage of the money obtained from the sale of Julian Alvarez to pay for the services of the Uruguayan striker. 

In this way, the Uruguayan international would end his adventure with Manchester United, which was going to be for only 1 year, but whose contract was extended to 2 years after a renegotiation.
