Manchester United are reportedly considering a double swoop for Benfica duo Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Orkun Kökçü, as they look to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.

United scouts were in attendance at Iceland's recent Nations League clash with Turkey, with their primary focus on the two Turkish talents. Both players started the game and impressed, with Aktürkoğlu in particular catching the eye with a goal and an assist in a 2-4 victory.

While it's likely that United scouts will continue to monitor the pair in Benfica's upcoming Champions League fixtures, the club's hierarchy are said to be seriously considering making a move in the winter transfer window. The Red Devils are keen to strengthen Erik ten Hag's squad, and believe that Aktürkoğlu and Kökçü could be the ideal additions to add creativity and flair to the midfield.

However, any deal for the Turkish duo is unlikely to come cheap. According to reports, Benfica would demand a combined fee of around €70 million for the pair. Aktürkoğlu is contracted to the Portuguese giants until 2029, while Kökçü's deal runs until 2028.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent months, but the club's interest in Aktürkoğlu and Kökçü suggests that they are prioritizing young, talented players who can make an immediate impact.

A Long-Term Plan for Manchester United

While it's likely that Manchester United will continue to monitor these players in the upcoming Champions League matches, reports suggest that the club is seriously considering making a bid during the winter transfer window. The United board believes that both players could provide a significant boost to Erik ten Hag's team and help rejuvenate the squad.
