Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez has made history by surpassing Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández as the all-time leading Mexican goalscorer in the Premier League.

Jiménez, currently playing for Fulham, reached the milestone with a brace against Ipswich Town, bringing his Premier League goal tally to 55. This surpasses Chicharito's previous record of 53 goals.

The Mexican striker’s journey to this historic achievement has been marked by resilience and determination. After suffering a severe head injury in late 2020, Jiménez faced a long and arduous road to recovery. His return to top-flight football and subsequent goal-scoring form is a testament to his character and commitment.

Jiménez’s first stint in the Premier League was with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he quickly became a fan favorite and a key player for the club. His 40 goals for Wolves made him the club’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League. After leaving Wolves in 2023, Jiménez joined Fulham, where he has continued to impress with his goal-scoring ability.

Chicharito, who previously held the record, enjoyed successful spells at Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen. His goalscoring prowess and infectious enthusiasm made him a popular figure among fans and teammates alike. However, Jiménez’s achievement now places him at the top of the list of Mexican goalscorers in the Premier League.

This milestone is a significant achievement for Mexican football. Both Jiménez and Chicharito have been instrumental in raising the profile of Mexican players in England and have inspired a new generation of Mexican footballers to dream of playing in the Premier League.
