After three games where he had to suffer the mockery of the Philadelphia Union players after missing a penalty, and being constantly beaten in the game against New York City FC, Gonzalo Higuaín scored his first goal with the team owned by David Beckham. Once the game was over, he compared the MLS with one of the best leagues in the world, the Italian Serie A.

After Inter Miami's victory over New York Red Bulls, the Argentinian forward said that the MLS, like the Italian league, is a very difficult tournament, where an outstanding physical preparation is very important and not any footballer can performe. Pipita Higuaín played in Serie A between 2013 and 2020 at Napoli SSC, Juventus and AC Milan.

In addition, he said that because he arrived to the MLS from Juventus, a world-class team, his adaptation to MLS has been easier than if he had arrived from other league. He also warned that the more he plays, the better his performance on the field will be. Higuaín wasn't going to be taken into account by the new coach and former Juventus star, Andrea Pirlo.

Higuaín also referred to the decision of the Inter Miami's coach, the Uruguayan Diego Alonso, to appoint him as captain of the team, something that he has experienced few times on his career but feels capable of doing, especially when it comes to guiding his youngest teammates in their first steps as professionals.
