LAFC is struggling to get a win without Carlos Vela but the team could get at least a point in a really hard match against the Portland Timbers. The solution this time for Bob Bradley was on the bench. He sent the Mexican wonderkid Christian Torres to the pitch and he equalized the match.
The 16-year-old made his debut a few days ago, but in his last match he became the youngest player to score a goal for Los Angeles FC. This is real evidence about how the team is focusing on getting good players from the Academy instead of spending millions on a transfer.
Carlos Vela’s pupil replaced Bradey Wright-Phillips and scored the equalizer at the last minute. He has earned the confidence of the coach. He is now ready for a new challenge, if he keep on this path he can become one of the main players of the league, his adaptation to professional soccer was really fast.
Torres is a forward that can play as an offensive midfielder because of his pace and stamina. That’s why he can give a lot of options to the coach and he will be essential for the coming seasons at Los Angeles FC. The next Carlos Vela has arrived to the MLS.
