The FIFA World Cup 2026 is two years away, and the games will be played in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Most of the matches will be played in the US, and while that is exciting news for football fans in the US, it is not exciting for certain national teams. The Copa America 2024 is being held in the US at the moment, and by the reaction of the players so far, the football pitches of the stadiums have been in poor condition. The stadiums they are playing in so far are mostly made for American football, and they usually have turf grass. Two individuals that are likely to be at the 2026 World Cup are Vinicius Jr. and Lionel Scaloni. They both complained about the pitch conditions, which are worrisome for the rest of the teams that will compete in the next World Cup here in the US. Vinicius, after the match against Costa Rica at SoFi Stadium, said, "No excuses, but the pitch was frustrating. The quality of the pitch at the EUROS is completely different."

Scaloni and the rest of the Argentina national team have been concerned with the state of the pitch. In the first game against Canada, the players were not satisfied with the pitch of the AT&T Stadium and were scared to play at the MetLife Stadium for their match against Chile. At the Metlife Stadium, there was natural grass on top of the artificial turf because American Football is played there [New York Giants and New York Jets]; there is a concern in the Argentina National Team about the conditions.

Scaloni spoke about the pitches in America and said, "We've known for 7 months that we were going to play here, and they changed the turf two days ago. We didn't play on a decent pitch. It was similar to Saudi Arabia, but with the difference that there we played on a suitable field. We can't play like this."

Emiliano Martinez on the pitch vs Canada

Last week, Argentina played against Canada at the AT&T stadium, but Emiliano Martinez was not impressed by the pitch conditions. Martinez said, "The pitch was a disaster; they put sod on top of synthetic turf, and it felt like a trampoline every time we received the ball. That's when you realize the obstacles they put in our way, but we are a team that keeps going, going, and going."
