The recent results have shown that FC Barcelona is having a difficult season. The first month of 2024 hasn't treated Barca kindly as they suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. This week, Barca were eliminated from the Copa del Rey when they lost 4-2 to Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona has suffered yet another crucial injury this season after Gavi got an injury earlier in November that took him out for the rest of the season. Alejandro Balde suffered a serious injury in the Athletic Bilbao game that took the player out in the 23rd minute. Balde could also miss the rest of the season if the player decides to get surgery for his injury.

Barca are now competing for two trophies this season, and those two titles are not the easiest to win. Barca are currently third in La Liga and are 8 points below Girona, who are top of the league. They are also 7 points behind 2nd place Real Madrid. Barca will play Napoli in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. The first leg is next month, and the second leg is in March.

Xavi mentioned in previous press conferences that he would leave the club if he didn't find more success for Barcelona. The Spanish manager wants to win titles for the team, and after falling short of two trophies this season so far, all focus is on La Liga and the Champions League.

Xavi speaks on his future and believes his time at Barca could be over soon despite the Barca board having his back

Xavi spoke about how it's an injustice the people who leave Barca only get recognized when they leave the club while being heavily criticized during their time there. Xavi says, "I have been here for two and a half years, and I think that there is less left than before. Don’t worry; the day will come when I will leave."

"In this club, we always appreciate people when they leave... It's the biggest injustice. With Valverde's work, or Koeman's work, is being appreciated. And now we miss Busquets, when he was crushed and attacked before, or Jordi Alba. I hope you miss me when I leave. The board tells me to forget about leaving. They are happy with the project, and in fact, with Deco we are already talking regarding things about next season. We've been talking about my continuity since August, and I'm still here."
