Inter Miami surprised the football community when they signed Lionel Messi last summer, and David Beckham was a crucial part of the signing. Now, the English co-owner of Inter Miami wants to bring another football megastar, Cristiano Ronaldo. With CR7 angry in Saudi Arabia, a move could potentially happen, but Beckham wants Ronaldo to deliver a similar impact to that of Messi in the MLS and in the United States. In an interview with Good Morning America, Beckham once again praises Messi’s impact in the MLS and in the United States since his arrival last summer. Beckham said, “I always said that bringing Leo to America wasn’t just for Miami; it was for America, and for the league, and for the sport... to inspire the next generation of kids.”
Messi’s popularity has increased in the United States since he moved to the MLS, which makes sense since the US market is among the world’s biggest markets. The Apple TV MLS subscriptions have skyrocketed since Messi joined the league as many want to see his performances for Inter Miami along with his former FC Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Saurez. This impact would be expected from Ronaldo since he has a similar impact in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in 2023, and since then, the crowds in Saudi Arabia have been excited to see the Saudi Pro League as they get to see one of the greatest footballers of all time. The league invested even more in their teams last summer as great players from the biggest European leagues arrived in the league, along with Ronaldo like Neymar Jr., Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Ruben Neves, and many more. CR7 has become the richest athlete in the world since his move to Saudi Arabia, but now, with less viewership than expected, the Portuguese may consider a move to Inter Miami to have an impact like Messi or a move to Europe for a more competitive environment.
The Portuguese star won the Arab Club Champions Cup Final with Al Nassr against Al Hilal last summer. Ronaldo wants to win the King’s Cup with Al Nassr against their rivals Al Hilal, especially after the 1-1 draw last night in the Saudi Pro League. Many fans will wonder what CR7 will think about staying in Saudi Arabia if he doesn’t win the trophy over Al Hilal. His contract with Al Nassr expires in the summer of 2025.
