Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals, but a controversial handball by Jack Grealish in the box was not called for a penalty, which has angered many football fans. Chelsea had a free kick outside the box, and Cole Palmer attempted to shoot from the free kick in the second half. The shot seemed going on target, but Grealish's arm deflected the ball for a corner. The VAR checked the play and told the referee, Michael Oliver, that it wasn't a penalty and that he didn't need to check the monitor.
Chelsea had many opportunities to put Manchester City away as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer had clear chances on goal. Man City punished them for not taking their chances by scoring late in the game to avoid extra time. Bernardo Silva scored in the 84th minute as he shoots the ball in the near post to send Man City into the FA Cup final. They will look to defend their FA Cup trophy against Coventry City or Manchester United. That semi-final match will be played tomorrow.
Despite the win for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola was very angry about his team playing just three days after the Champions League match against Real Madrid. Guardiola wanted his players to play on Sunday instead of Saturday to recover properly and mentioned that Manchester United, Coventry City, and Chelsea did not have mid-week games. Guardiola said, "People can’t understand the punch in our face to be out of the Champions League. Why not give us an extra day with Man Utd, Chelsea, Coventry not playing in midweek? For the broadcasters... ok, don't ask me to do extra things after the game — because I am not going to do it."
After Man City's victory against Chelsea in the FA Cup, Guardiola was asked how he felt about the win. Guardiola did not hold back and said he was surprised how his players managed to play the game after just playing extra time against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
