French national team manager Didier Deschamps has stepped in to defend Kylian Mbappé amid growing speculation surrounding the Real Madrid forward's recent absence from international duty. Rumors have swirled in the French media suggesting that Mbappé had traveled to Stockholm during the FIFA break, despite being sidelined due to physical issues.

In an interview with Telefoot, Deschamps sought to quell the controversy: "I don't follow the news about players who aren't here. Kylian is following a program with his club, Real Madrid. I don't know if he went out or not," the manager stated.

Deschamps further emphasized his support for Mbappé, adding, "I have to manage those who are here. What I can say is that Kylian sent me a message before the game [referring to France's match against Israel]. After that, like any other player at his club, he follows a program. If players have days off, they are free to do what they want."

The French manager's comments come as the French media has been abuzz with reports of Mbappé's alleged trip to Stockholm, as published by Swedish outlet Sportbladet. The timing of the reported trip coincided with the FIFA break, during which Mbappé was not called up to the French national team due to ongoing physical issues.

Deschamps' decision to back Mbappé publicly is likely aimed at shielding the star player from further criticism and maintaining a united front within the national team. However, the rumors surrounding Mbappé's activities during his time off are likely to continue to generate headlines in the French media.
