Players in Europe are close to planning a strike, according to Rodri: "I think we are close to that (of going on strike). I think if you ask any player they will tell you the same thing, it is not Rodri's opinion or it whatever, I think it's the general opinion of the players," revealed the Manchester City midfielder in the press conference prior to their Champions League duel.

The discomfort among the players has been a constant, the big problem is that the teams' schedule becomes quite demanding. On average there are 3 games each week, one for the league, one for the cup and one for European competitions. That is to say, the players do not have a single day off because when they are not playing, they are training, and otherwise they are recovering after the games.

Mentally, it is exhausting for almost any footballer or person. The problem is that they are human beings, fathers, sons, brothers and even though football is their job, they also need rest. In addition to this, the players must respond to results and if they lose or are adverse, the fans reproach them with everything, and that is why it is the criticism of the footballers.

Now, the debate is that footballers do not earn real fortunes, they do not earn like ordinary people. In one month they can earn what a normal worker earns in their entire life. Given this, many say that the sacrifice is worth it and several players have said the same, but to what extent does money replace well-being. There are cases of players who even lost their lives, the most recent being Juan Izquierdo who, due to excessive physical strain, collapsed on the field of play and days later lost his life.

Kevin de Bruyne spoke about the excess of matches in Europe

At a press conference, the Manchester City midfielder confessed that the fault lies with FIFA and UEFA: "The PFA (Professional Footballers' Association of England) and other players' associations have tried to find solutions, but the problem is that UEFA and FIFA insist on playing more games. We try to say something, but no solution is found because they don't care about money speaking for them," revealed the Manchester United player.
