Kylian Mbappé and PSG failed once again in the Champions League as they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Borussia Dortmund, who won 2-0 on aggregate. The PSG fans are upset but angry that the team continues to struggle in the Champions League, and they were close to reaching another Champions League final for the first time since 2020. Reports in France suggest that the PSG ultras are furious with Mbappé, and they plan to boo the player this weekend in PSG's Ligue 1 match against Toulouse at the Parc des Princes. Mbappé couldn't score in both legs of the tie against Dortmund, and expectations were high for the player.
Mbappé is seen as the face of PSG by the fans, but they have gotten tired of him not being able to deliver the Champions League for them every year, especially after this semifinal fixture against Dortmund. PSG did not score a goal, and Mbappé made a few shots hitting the woodwork. Mbappé was close, but it wasn't enough, as he explained after the match yesterday. Mbappé said, "It’s long process to win the Champions League and I’m sure PSG are not far from that. We are sad tonight, we’re disappointed."
The PSG fans are also upset with Mbappé because of the reports of him not signing a new contract and leaving the club for free to join Real Madrid next season. Mbappé has reportedly shown signs that he will not continue at the Parc des Princes as he continues to talk about PSG as a team he will no longer be a part of. An announcement of Mbappé to Real Madrid is now expected very soon, which would infuriate the PSG fanbase even more.
After the PSG vs. Dortmund game, Thierry Henry praised Mbappé despite being eliminated from the Champions League with PSG again. Henry said, "Kylian Mbappé can leave this club with his head held high. The big man played really well his whole career for PSG, so I am not personally going to judge him for not winning the Champions League. He is the best player in PSG's history for me. With the impact he has had and is having in the world, what he is doing and has done in Paris, he will leave as the best player in the club's history."
