The upcoming season is quickly approaching, and Pep Guardiola is starting to prepare his Manchester City team for the preseason. Guardiola wants to win another Premier League trophy after winning four in a row. Man City fans are happy to see the Spanish coach still in charge, but next season could be his last since his contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Guardiola may not renew his contract as he may be after another job that has now become available. Many football fans expect him to return to FC Barcelona since it is his club that has been special to him for many years after he played for them and coached them. Barcelona currently has Hansi Flick, and the move seems impossible.

Miguel Delaney from the Independent reports that The FA wants to appoint Pep Guardiola and is willing to wait for the Spaniard with his Man City contract ending in 2025. That means they could appoint an interim England manager to replace Gareth Southgate. England announced that Southgate will not continue as the head coach of the English national team after they lost 2-1 to Spain in the European Championship final this past weekend.

Guardiola has never coached a national team in his career so far as he coached FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and is currently at Man City. Man City has been the club that Guardiola has coached for the longest time, even ahead of Barcelona, which is the club he played for and found lots of success in the Champions League.

Guardiola has coached a total of 472 games at Man City with a 2.34 points per game ratio. The record he has at Manchester City is a total of 349 wins, 57 draws, and 66 losses. He has won six Premier Leagues with the club and could end his career there with seven if he wins it the upcoming season.

Pep Guardiola’s 23/24 season at Man City

Guardiola coached 59 matches for Manchester City this past season across all competitions. Man City won 44 games, drew eight, and lost 7 throughout the 2023/2024 season. Man City won the Premier League, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. Manchester City were in the FA Cup Final, but they lost 2-1 to Manchester United.

Guardiola produced these types of numbers in Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Man City was satisfied with winning the Premier League title, and manager Pep Guardiola is looking to win the Champions League again next season. The team once again proved to be winning games at the end part of the season.

They did the same this past season; it led to them winning the Premier League title. They got to lift it at the Etihad Stadium in font of their fans for a fourth consecutive time. Guardiola will stay next season, and the fans will cherish these last moments of the Spanish manager at the club.
