FC Barcelona went trophyless this season as they finished second in La Liga, crashed out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals, and were out of the Copa Del Rey in the quarterfinals. The Catalan club plans to compete for titles next season under their new manager, Hansi Flick, but certain changes in the squad could happen. The club needs to make a big sale this summer in order to sign players during the summer transfer window. According to Roger Torello from Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona forward Raphinha is the subject of a $100 million move to one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest clubs. The sale of the Brazilian could offer Barcelona a large possibility of buying a new player in the summer, and one of the players the club is linked to is Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. The young Spanish winger could be brought into the club for around $50 million.

A couple of weeks ago, Sport reported that FC Barcelona wants to sell Raphinha and sign Nico Williams this summer as his replacement. The club really like Williams’ profile as he can play on the left or on the right, and offers lots of pace. Barcelona fans were frustrated to see Raphinha consistently in certain performances for the team this season but were convinced in the late stages of the season. This will depend on Hansi Flick if he wants to keep the Brazilian or sign the young Spanish winger.

Raphinha played a total of 37 matches for FC Barcelona this season across all competitions. The Brazilian scored ten goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions. Nico Williams played a total of 37 matches for Athletic Bilbao this season across all competitions. The Spanish winger scored eight goals and provided 17 assists this season across all competitions.

The future of Joao Felix

Another player who could be seen as a replacement for Raphinha is Joao Felix. The Portuguese winger played for FC Barcelona this past season on loan from Atletico Madrid. According to MARCA, Hansi Flick wants Joao Felix to stay at the club this summer and has requested it be done. Barça are clear that they will not sign him permanently, only on loan. His market price is very high, and there is no money to assume the operation due to the economic problems.
