Former Real Madrid and Sevilla captain Sergio Ramos remains a free agent, but his lofty wage demands are making it difficult for him to find a new club. According to renowned journalist Matteo Moretto, Ramos has been requesting a salary of approximately €6 million in recent negotiations.
The Spanish defender, who left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, is reportedly seeking a project that aligns with his ambitions and experience. However, his financial expectations are proving to be a significant hurdle for many interested clubs.
“Sergio Ramos is still unemployed. The former Real Madrid and Sevilla defender is looking for the right project for him, but it is also true that Ramos' economic demands are quite high and, of course, are not within everyone's reach," Moretto revealed on Diario Relevo. "According to what I have been told, in one of the meetings he has held in recent weeks with a club that has contacted him, he asks for a salary of about six million euros.”
Ramos' illustrious career has seen him win numerous titles with both Real Madrid and Sevilla, including multiple Champions League trophies. His leadership qualities and defensive prowess have made him one of the most decorated defenders of his generation.
Despite his experience and success, Ramos' age and injury record have raised concerns among potential suitors. At 37, the Spaniard is no longer the same player he once was, and clubs are hesitant to commit to such a long-term and expensive contract.
As Ramos continues his search for a new club, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to find a team that is willing to meet his financial demands. With the transfer window closing in several leagues, time is running out for the former Spanish international to secure a new deal.
