Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli finalized the signing of Brazilian winger Wenderson Galeno from FC Porto for €50 million, the Portuguese club confirmed on Friday in a statement to the country’s Securities Market Commission.

The transfer was completed on the final day of the Saudi Pro League’s January window, marking the end of Galeno’s time at Porto, where he was under contract until 2028. The 27-year-old now joins a growing list of high-profile players lured to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious football project.

A Key Departure for Porto

Galeno played a total of 153 matches for Porto, scoring 45 goals and providing 21 assists across two separate spells with the club. His most recent stint began in the second half of the 2021-2022 season, and he became a key part of the squad over the past three years.

His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team, where he has been capped twice, most recently in March 2024.

A Star-Studded Squad at Al Ahli

At Al Ahli, Galeno will join a squad filled with international talent, including:

  • Roberto Firmino (Brazil) – Former Liverpool forward
  • Ivan Toney (England) – Premier League star
  • Riyad Mahrez (Algeria) – Ex-Manchester City winger
  • Gabri Veiga (Spain) – Rising La Liga talent

With this move, Saudi clubs continue their aggressive pursuit of top-tier talent, and Galeno’s arrival strengthens Al Ahli’s ambitions in both domestic and continental competitions.
