Real Madrid's squad may need some tinkering in terms of reducing the number of first-team players. The club is looking to freshen the squad a little ahead of the new season. A couple of players' contracts with Real Madrid are expiring soon, and the club is monitoring which players they would like to offer new contracts and which players they are ready to let go. One of those players is club legend Toni Kroos, who is unsure whether to stay another year or leave this summer. Real Madrid is looking to convince the player to sign another contract as they are happy with his performances.

Last summer, Toni Kroos extended a contract with Real Madrid until 2024. The summer is soon approaching, and the club was willing to offer him another contract depending on his performances this season. The German midfielder has played exceptionally once again and has played many games as expected. He has played 27 La Liga matches, starting in 19. Kroos has played in seven Champions League games, starting in five.

While the German is delivering on the pitch, Kroos comes at a big cost for the club as he is reportedly the highest earner in the team. Capology reports that Kroos earns around $511k a week and a yearly salary of $26 million. If Kroos were to leave at the end of the season, Real Madrid would save up big wages for new players. According to many Spanish reports, Kroos will have the choice to either renew with Real Madrid or not, as the club is ready to offer him another contract. While Kroos is a legend who is offered a contract, another club legend is not.
