Lionel Messi had an eventful weekend with the Argentina national team as they played in the Copa America Final against Colombia. Messi did not finish the game as he was injured and needed to come off. He suffered an ankle injury that did not allow him to walk properly. The Argentine star was crying on the bench because of his injury, but this brings bad news for Inter Miami.

Inter Miami may not count on Messi in the upcoming Leagues Cup tournament, which is the competition Messi and his team won last summer. Messi is set to miss at least six weeks from football, and it guarantees him missing an event in the United States that many fans will be looking forward to in the United States.

The annual MLS All-Star Game will take place next week, and they will compete against the Liga MX All-Stars. The match will be played on July 24th at the Lower.com Field. Messi was called up for the roster of the MLS All-Star team, but now he will miss due to his unfortunate ankle injury. The friendly MLS match will still be streamed on Apple TV, and before the game, the MLS All Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T will happen.

The 2024 MLS All Star game will include some of the best players from both the MLS and Liga MX. Tata Martino will not be the coach for the MLS team as it will be Wilfred Nancy. The MLS All Star team defeated the Liga MX All Star team two years, as they won 2-1.

Inter Miami confirmed recently the extent of the injury and what is causing him pain. In the club’s statement, Inter Miami confirmed that Leo Messi has suffered a ligament injury in his right ankle. It was determined that he would miss more than a month out, but the Argentine will use this as a break from the intense Copa America final and the tough couple of months, where he had to play multiple games for club and country.

Inter Miami still had two games before next week’s MLS All star game. Inter Miami defeated Toronto FC 3-1 at home at the Chase Stadium. They will then take on the Chicago Fire this weekend at the Chase Stadium again.

These are the last two MLS games before the Leagues Cup tournament, which for them starts on July 27th against Liga MX team Club Puebla. Messi was at the Inter Miami vs Toronto FC game last night.

Messi could be expected to be back by the last stages of the Leagues Cup or potentially after the whole competition is over. The Argentine star will likely be back for the MLS games, which start again for Inter Miami on August 24th against Cincinnati FC. Inter Miami will then play against Chicago Fire on August 31st.

Inter Miami win again without Lionel Messi

With Messi watching from the VIP seats at Chase Stadium, Inter Miami defeated Toronto FC 3-1 last night at home. Federico Redondo scored a brace and provided an assist in the match, while Diego Gomez scored and provided an assist.

Jordi Alba played the full match while Luis Suarez came in at the 61st minute of the match after playing in the Copa America with the Uruguay national team. Sergio Busquets did not play due to suspension, as he received a red card in the 6-1 loss to Cincinnati FC two weeks ago.
