The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is reportedly plotting a daring move to bring Pep Guardiola to manage the Seleção ahead of the 2030 World Cup. According to a report in The Athletic, a New York Times company, the CBF has a well-defined project in place to secure the services of the highly sought-after manager.

The report suggests that the CBF has been in contact with Guardiola's team throughout this year. While Guardiola was reportedly upset when the CBF distanced itself from him after his Barcelona days, sources close to the situation indicate that he is now receptive to the idea of coaching Brazil.

Pep Guardiola could be set for Brazil switch after Manchester City

To facilitate a smooth transition, Guardiola is expected to remain at Manchester City for one more season. This would give him the opportunity to work with a team from the beginning of a World Cup cycle. His current contract with City expires at the end of the 2024/2025 season, and while a renewal hasn't been finalized, there are positive signs that he may stay.

This week, Guardiola jokingly dismissed rumors linking him to the Brazil job following Manchester City's 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League. "After a 4-1, I'm no longer an option for Brazil," he quipped. "More than ever, I want to lift Manchester City and get them back to their highest level."

However, the report in The Athletic suggests that the CBF's interest in Guardiola remains strong, and they believe they can convince him to take over the Brazilian national team after his stint at Manchester City.

The prospect of Guardiola managing Brazil is undoubtedly exciting for fans of both the Seleção and Manchester City. With his tactical acumen and ability to develop young talent, Guardiola could take the Brazilian national team to new heights. However, it remains to be seen whether the CBF will be successful in their pursuit of the Spanish manager.
