Rumors have grown in regards to Jose Mourinho returning to the Premier League to coach Chelsea once again, for the third time in his career. Mourinho had two spells at Chelsea, and in the first one, the Portuguese coach transformed the club by making the team one of the best in the country and in Europe. The second time Mourinho coached Chelsea, he won a Premier League title but left the club in the 2015/16 season by mutual agreement due to poor performances. If Mourinho were to take over Chelsea next season, the task of competing would be even more difficult as Manchester City and Arsenal seem like the two main candidates for the league title next season.

Chelsea may want to move on from Mauricio Pochettino after the team is far from European spots as they currently sit 9th in the table with 48 points. With five games left in the team's Premier League, the maximum points they could finish this season is 63 points. Chelsea has conceded 59 goals this season in the Premier League, while Mourinho's Chelsea team only conceded 61 goals in his first three seasons there.
Although a Chelsea and Mourinho reunion seems like a bad idea, a club that may show interest in the Portuguese manager is Newcastle United. Newcastle United fans are happy with Eddie Howe as their manager despite the team sitting 7th in the league table with 53 points. Newcastle suffered many injuries this season, and the club's owners have a lot of money to spend so they can compete for titles. While there is limited spending due to Premier League regulations, the club may want a new manager to take over who has experience like Mourinho to challenge for titles consistently.
On April 30th, 2005, Chelsea won their first Premier League title in Jose Mourinho's first season with the club. The team continues to hold the record to only have conceded 15 goals all season. Mourinho guided Chelsea to an English League Cup trophy and the semi-finals of the Champions League.
