Lionel Messi is very close with his teammates in the Argentina national team, and he was asked specific questions in regard to who he would pick for certain situations. Messi was asked who in the Argentina squad he would want to take care of his children. Messi was shocked by his response, as he said, Emiliano Martinez. Messi was asked why he picked ‘Dibu’ Martinez as the player to take care of his kids, but it wasn’t because of responsibility. Messi said, “I pick Dibu so they [his kids] could shoot balls at him. To kick him.” When asked if his kids copy the Argentine goalkeeper, Messi said, “They [his kids] had their moment with him [Dibu Martinez] and try to copy him after the World Cup and also after the Copa America [2021].” Messi explained that Mateo copies the trash talk before his brothers kick the ball at him for a penalty at him.

Messi also mentioned that he would party with the most with Rodrigo De Paul and preferred Leandro Paredes as his brother-in-law since he has known him for many years. Messi revealed that Paredes is the admin of the group chat between the players on the Argentina national team. When asked what the name of the group chat is called, Messi said, “I don’t remember. Let me see for a moment.. Okay (his name is World Champions)”

Messi on the Copa America

Messi was asked if Argentina is the heavy favorite of the Copa America 2024 this summer, and the Argentine star agreed. Messi said, “When the tournament starts, whether it is the World Championship or the Copa America, Argentina are favorites just like Brazil. But I think today’s South American teams are very strong. Uruguay is very good, Colombia and Ecuador. I think the Copa America will be very close.”
