Liverpool academy graduate Lewis Koumas has opened up about his interactions with Colombian star Luis Díaz, revealing that he felt like an "odd one out" when around the winger.

The 19-year-old, currently on loan at Stoke City, made the admission during a recent interview with Sky Sports. 1 Despite his admiration for Díaz, Koumas confessed to feeling a bit out of place when training alongside the Colombian international.

"There were times when he probably thought I was a bit of an oddball, just watching him most of the time," Koumas said with a smile. Playing in the same position and sharing a similar preferred foot, Koumas has looked up to Díaz as a role model. "I love watching him, seeing what he does, and I try to implement parts of his game into mine," he added.

Is Harvey Elliott's Time at Liverpool Coming to an End?

Since joining Liverpool from Porto in January 2022, Díaz has quickly become a fan favorite at Anfield. His impressive performances have earned him numerous accolades and have seen him linked with moves to top European clubs. Despite interest from teams like Al Hilal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona, Díaz has remained committed to Liverpool.

Koumas' comments provide a fascinating insight into the dynamics within the Liverpool dressing room. While Díaz is undoubtedly a world-class talent, it's refreshing to hear about the more human side of the Colombian star and the impact he has had on younger players like Koumas.
