Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a deal for a key target after a rival club saw their offer rejected. While the Reds have yet to make any significant signings during the January transfer window, there is still time for manager Arne Slot to strengthen his squad before the deadline.

The club has seen limited movement this month, with Thomas Hill joining Harrogate Town on a free transfer, Marcelo Pitaluga moving to Fluminense, and Calvin Ramsey heading out on loan to Kilmarnock.

However, there is significant interest in Slavia Prague's talented wing-back, El Hadji Malick Diouf. Crystal Palace have seen two bids for the 20-year-old rejected, with their latest offer reportedly worth around £14.3 million.

While Brighton are also interested in Diouf, Slavia Prague chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik has hinted that it would take a significant offer from a top Premier League club like Liverpool to tempt them into selling. This news will come as a boost to Liverpool, who are looking to strengthen their squad and maintain their strong position in the Premier League and Champions League.

With the transfer window closing soon, Liverpool will be working diligently to finalize any potential deals and ensure they are well-equipped to challenge for silverware in the remainder of the season.
