Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr had a decent season, but they would’ve wanted to win a major trophy ahead of Al Hilal. Now they look ahead to next season, and CR7 hopes to convince some of his former teammates to join Al Nassr this summer. This strategy has worked for Lionel Messi, who joined Inter Miami last summer, and the MLS club has brought in his former teammates and good friends: Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez. Inter Miami has dominated the MLS scene so far by using this strategy, but now Al Nassr and Ronaldo will try to do the same next season. Haitam el Imani from Saudi Arabia reports that Al Nassr has made initial contact with David de Gea’s camp. Ronaldo and Fernando Hierro know the Spanish goalkeeper very well. This is one to keep an eye on. The Saudi Pro League club is also still interested in signing Ederson, but signing De Gea would be easier since the Spanish keeper is a free agent.

Graeme Bailey also reports that Ronaldo is encouraging Al Nassr to consider signing David De Gea. The two players were teammates at Manchester United a couple of years ago. The two players played 53 games together at Manchester United for two seasons. De Gea left Manchester United in the summer of 2023 as his contract expired, but he couldn’t find a club last season. De Gea was rumored to make a return to Manchester United or potentially playing in Spain again.

De Gea has not just been sitting around to wait for a club as he posts videos of him training at home. The Spanish keeper has hinted that he will be returning to football soon, and after the reports of him potentially joining Ronaldo at Al Nassr, it seems very possible. He posted a video of him making a great save in slow motion.

The other players Ronaldo wants at Al Nassr

David de Gea is not the only player Ronaldo wants to bring in at Al Nassr for next season. Three former teammates of his that could potentially join Al Nassr this summer are Nacho Fernandez from Real Madrid, Casemiro, and Raphael Varane from Manchester United. Nacho’s contract with Real Madrid expires on June 30th, and he has yet to confirm whether he will sign a contract extension or leave the club as a free agent to join Al Nassr.

Varane is leaving Manchester United this summer, and his destination is unknown. It is likely that he could join his former club, Lens, in Ligue 1 or potentially play with Ronaldo at Al Nassr, in which the club has shown interest before. Casemiro could be the most likely to play for Al Nassr next season as the Brazilian is unsure how he fits in the Manchester United team next season. Erik Ten Hag may be sacked this summer, but if he is, the Brazilian midfielder may leave the club and be open to joining Al Nassr with Ronaldo.
