In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Karim Benzema surprised many by choosing his greatest footballer of all time, notably excluding his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Everyone can say what they want"

Benzema began his response by reflecting on the subjective nature of the debate: "I believe that everyone can say what they want. If they believe they are the best in history, then they are. It depends on that."

His choice: Ronaldo, the Brazilian

Benzema then revealed his personal choice: "For me, for example, the best is Ronaldo, from Brazil." The French forward highlighted the qualities of the former Brazilian player, known as "O Fenômeno," who shone at clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter Milan.

Recognition for Cristiano Ronaldo

Despite not including him in his choice of the greatest of all time, Benzema acknowledged Cristiano Ronaldo's career: "But Cristiano is what he is." The French forward shared a dressing room with the Portuguese star at Real Madrid, where together they won numerous titles.

No comparisons

Benzema also expressed his dislike for comparisons between players: "I don't like to make comparisons between players because everyone has their own story. He has his story and it is very good."

The reaction of Cristiano Ronaldo

Benzema's statements have generated various reactions in the world of football. Some believe that the French forward has been unfair to Cristiano Ronaldo, while others value his sincerity and his respect for the Portuguese player.

A never-ending debate

The choice of the greatest footballer of all time is a debate that will never end. Every fan has their own criteria and their own idols. What is undeniable is that both Ronaldo, the Brazilian, and Cristiano Ronaldo have left an indelible mark on the history of football.
