Although Roma suffered a 3-1 loss to AC Milan, many did not expect the decision of AS Roma to fire Jose Mourinho. The 'Special One' was also surprised as he was seen leaving the training facility after the news came out. The Portuguese seemed very upset about the decision but stopped to take pictures with some Roma fans outside the facility.

Mourinho's time with the Italian club seemed to be successful since he led his team to the UEFA Conference League trophy and the Europa League final. Roma remained in the 6th position for the past two seasons. Roma has seen enough after the team struggled to pick up points before the Milan game. Roma was also eliminated from the Coppa Italia by their local rivals Lazio in the Olimpico.

Roma replaced Mourinho with former Roma captain Daniele de Rossi. In his debut as a coach, Roma defeated Hellas Verona 2-1 at home and now sits 8th in the Serie A with 32 points. They are level with Bologna, who are in 7th and only 2 points behind 4th place Fiorentina. The club will look to make a UCL spot after not playing Champions League for five years.

The Saudi Arabian League has approached Jose Mourinho in the past few days, and they are looking to bring him in now. Mourinho has decided not to continue with negotiations to become Al-Shabab's new coach. According to Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho will not rush his decision on his next club/project as he wants to pick the best one for his career.

Mourinho rejected Saudi Arabia but is interested in staying in Italy for his next club

Mourinho decided not to go to Saudi Arabia but wants to remain in Europe to coach this year. Mourinho has been linked to stay in Italy and manage Napoli. It is reported by the Sunday Times that he will have a meeting with Napoli this week despite having Walter Mazzarri in charge. Mazzarri joined the club in November after Napoli sacked Rudi Garcia. Mourinho was spotted earlier today in Barcelona, Spain, and laughed when a journalist asked if he were to coach FC Barcelona.
