Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr may be looking forward to having a new manager next season, as Luis Castro could be on his way out. Al Nassr has had a decent season as they were one of the best teams in the Saudi Pro League but did not win the league title or advance past the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League. Al Nassr only has one more chance to win a trophy before the end of the season. Many fans suggested Al Nassr appoint Jose Mourinho since he is a free agent and could reunite with Ronaldo for the first time since their time together in Real Madrid. Strong rumors in Saudi Arabia suggest that Al Nassr will go for a less experienced manager, Filippo Inzaghi, the former US Salernitana coach.
Inzaghi started his first team managerial career in 2014 at AC Milan, where he coached from 2014 to 2015. The Italian coach managed a total of 40 games for Milan, but it wasn’t a good experience. The manager then went on to coach other Italian clubs like Venezia, Bologna, Benevento, Brescia, Reggina, and recently with US Salernitana. The team he coached the most throughout his career was Venezia, who he coached for a total of 95 matches. His best achievement as manager was getting promoted to Serie A with Benevento in the 2019/2020 season.
This season with US Salernitana has been a disaster for the Italian manager. He was appointed for the job on October 10th, 2023, but only coached 18 games in total. He managed to guide Salernitana to only three wins, four draws, and 11 losses. The team only accumulated 10 points in the Serie A under his tenure, and then he was sacked on February 11th, 2024.
Although it looks difficult for Mourinho to coach Ronaldo again in his career, the ‘Special One’ has praised CR7 once again, which hints that he wants to coach the player again soon. Mourinho spoke about his time at Real Madrid while coaching Ronaldo. Mourinho said, “I coach teams, not players. Cristiano is a star who has value, but in the end, I have to create an atmosphere of success in the team, and this is my path to success.”
