The MLS is witnessing the greatness of Lionel Messi and his teammates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez. Inter Miami is one of the strongest teams in the MLS, but now another American club wants to sign FC Barcelona players. According to Diario AS USA, LA Galaxy is interested in signing Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker is under contract with the Catalan club until the summer of 2026. LA Galaxy is the team that has won the most MLS titles in the league, and they want to make a statement by signing Lewandowski to compete against Messi and Inter Miami. LA Galaxy are also heavily interested in Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus, which could lead to the transfer of Lewandowski since the two players are great friends from their days at Dortmund together.

There was tension in the past between Lewandowski and Messi, and it was shown during the 2022 World Cup when Argentina played against Poland in the group stage. Argentina won 2-0, but it wasn’t enough for Messi, and he deliberately dribbled past Lewandowski for his comments about the 2021 Ballon d’Or. Many thought Lewandowski would win the award for his 2019/20 season with Bayern since the 2020 Ballon d’Or ceremony was canceled due to the pandemic. Instead, Messi won and even praised the Polish striker, admitting he should’ve won it the previous year.

Lewandowski made controversial comments after Messi’s speech, saying, " I would like it to be a sincere and courteous statement from a great player and not just empty words.” Messi took those words badly and was very angry at him during the match in the 2022 World Cup. Messi said, “I dribbled against Lewandowski again on purpose. Because when I won the Ballon d’Or I really felt what I said about him. And for him to speak the way he spoke, the truth is that it bothered me.” The two players talked about it and there is no animosity between the two as it was a misunderstanding.
