Manchester City and Pep Guardiola want to sign West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer, but the Brazilian shuts the rumors down by expressing how happy he is at his current team. After the 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League, Paqueta was asked about potentially joining Guardiola's Manchester City next season, and the Brazilian said, "That stuff is from last summer window; now it’s time to finish the season and see what happens. I’m very happy at West Ham, I can’t lie, and I’ve also massive respect for the club." Man City has been interested in Paqueta since last year and West Ham had placed a price tag worth more than $100 million that could reach up to $120 million.

Guardiola is an admirer of the Brazilian midfielder and thinks that he could be the right player to replace Kevin De Bruyne when the Belgian eventually leaves the club in a couple of years. Last Septemeber in the Premier League, Manchester City traveled to West Ham United's London Stadium. Man City defeated West Ham 3-1, but during the game, Paqueta shook hands with Guardiola, and the coaching staff caused more rumors that the Brazilian wanted to go there.
Paqueta has made 40 appearances for West Ham United this season in all competitions. The Brazilian has eight goals and seven assists this season, with 10 goal contributions in the Premier League. Paqueta's last goal for West Ham was against Wolves earlier this month in the 2-1 win at the Molineux Stadium.

West Ham United will face Manchester City on the last matchday of the season at the Etihad Stadium. This match could crown Man City as the Premier League champion for the 4th consecutive time. Paqueta is most likely going to play this match, and discussions between West Ham and Man City and the player could continue ahead of the summer transfer window. Man City is also interested in Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, which shows Guardiola wants another midfielder for the team next season.
