Cristiano Ronaldo did not have a good European Championship this summer, and EURO 2024 will arguably be the worst one of his career. Portugal was eliminated in the quarterfinals by France in a penalty shootout, and they lost 5-3. The player who missed for Portugal was Joao Felix, who was the only player to miss in the shootout as his shot hit the post.

The Portuguese attacker was criticized for missing the penalty and running the chance to allow Ronaldo to play in another semifinal of the EUROS. Things have gotten worse as he was seen at the Hard Rock Stadium yesterday to watch Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team win the Copa America USA 2024. Felix was pictured on a VIP balcony of the stadium to watch Messi win his second Copa America trophy.

The Portuguese striker is currently on vacation and will likely start looking to play at a different club next season since he is still an Atletico Madrid player.

Joao Felix has had a tough summer with Portugal at the EUROS. Felix only featured in two matches for Portugal at the EUROS this summer, and he started in a 2-0 loss against Georgia in the group stage.

He played 15 minutes in the 0-0 draw against France in the quarterfinals, which led to a penalty shootout. He was consoled by the rest of the Portugal national team when he missed the penalty. The Portuguese striker may need to improve drastically this upcoming season to get more minutes at the Portugal national team again.

This has been the opposite of what he should have done in the last major international tournament for Portugal, which was the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Portugal played five matches in that World Cup, and Felix started in four of them. He scored a goal and provided two assists in that competition. He started alongside Ronaldo, who had just left Manchester United. Felix showcased their great abilities in this tournament, which he used to do in La Liga with Atletico Madrid against teams like Barcelona or Real Madrid.

After the World Cup, Felix went to Chelsea for a six-month loan deal. He shined for a few months there, scoring a couple of goals, one of which was against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He also faced Real Madrid as a Chelsea player in the Champions League but was eliminated as they lost 4-0 on aggregate. Then he moved to FC Barcelona this past season, and to some, he did great, but his season-long loan there may have been the only time fans could see him be at the Catalan club.

Felix is unlikely to return to FC Barcelona next season after his loan deal with the Catalan club expired on June 30th. The club published the departure of the Portuguese player, but then they deleted it, which has fans thinking that the Catalan club is working on bringing him back for next season.

Joao Felix's market value

Joao Felix is currently worth around $30 million, according to Transfermarkt, but Atletico Madrid wants more than that amount to sell him this summer. FC Barcelona has been interested in signing him permanently, but the club also wants to sign Nico Williams. Barcelona reportedly can't afford to sign both players this summer.
