Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo shocked the football world when they decided to join the MLS and the Saudi Pro League, respectively. Messi's move to Inter Miami last summer has impacted football for many reasons here in the United States. After Messi's move to Inter Miami, his former FC Barcelona teammates joined as well. Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets joined Inter Miami over the past few months, and now the team has become one of the best teams in the MLS on paper. Ronaldo has done something similar in the Saudi Pro League, as its popularity has become bigger. Many European stars have joined the league since then, and more could continue.

Relevo reports that Sergio Ramos is aiming for a summer move to MLS. His agent was in the U.S. during Easter to check out a couple of team facilities. Ramos' contract with Sevilla expires at the end of the season, and many reports suggest that the defender wants to stay next season. Ronaldo and Messi's former teammate is expected to leave Sevilla this summer since the club would like to move on.
Ramos spent many years at Real Madrid with Ronaldo. The pair won many trophies together in Spain, but after the departure of the Portuguese star, things changed. Ramos left Real Madrid in 2021 and joined PSG along with Messi, who left FC Barcelona that same year. The two won the French league twice with PSG and assembled one of the strongest squads PSG has ever seen. It is surprising to many football fans that he is more likely to join the MLS with Messi rather than the Saudi Pro League with Ronaldo.
