Cristiano Ronaldo has had many great managers during his career. He was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, Zinedine Zidane, Carlo Ancelotti, and Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese icon enjoyed having these managers during his time at Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Reports in Sweden have suggested that a former manager of Ronaldo's is on the radar for certain teams. The former manager also managed Manchester United and had a two-year spell with the club. The former manager is the Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His last managerial appearance was in 2021 with Manchester United, which included Ronaldo in the squad, suffered a 4-1 defeat against Watford.
Solskjaer has been out of football for three years, but the Saudi League has approached him. The former Manchester United player and manager turned down two offers from Saudi Arabia and looks at other options available. "I've had offers. The latest two are from Saudi Arabia. My best friend, who is also my agent, goes through the offer," he explained in an interview for The Athletic.
According to reports by Swedish media Fotbollskanalen, Solskjaer is a candidate to take over the Swedish national team. Sweden is looking for a new manager after their now-former manager Janne Andersson's resignation after their final Euro 2024 qualifying match. Sweden failed to qualify for the Euros for the first time since the 1996 Euros.
The Swedish Football Federation is willing to choose a non-Swede to manage the national team but is also open to other options besides Solskjaer. Some of the other names the Swedish Football Federation is looking at are Olof Mellberg and Tony Gustavsson. It will be interesting to see the final decision of the Swedish Football Federation, but if Solskjaer joins, it would be the Norwegian's first international managerial role.
