FC Barcelona made history in the summer of 2017 when he sold Neymar Jr. to PSG for around $222 million. It was a record-breaking transfer fee no one expected to see, and it changed the transfer market. The transfer fee was enormous and it has yet to be broken even though clubs are selling players for very high transfer fees lately. FC Barcelona looks to break that transfer fee as PSG is once again interested in one of the Catalan club's key players. This time, PSG wants to sign the club's youngster and the future of the team, Lamine Yamal. Mundo Deportivo reports that Barça has been notified that PSG is ready to break the world transfer record to sign Lamine Yamal as Kylian Mbappé’s replacement. The record stands at €222 million or $130.7 million, but PSG is prepared to offer up to €250 million or $267.8 million, surpassing their own record. It would be unlikely that the move would happen, but the money would be very beneficial for the Catalan club.
Many Barcelona fans do not want to see Lamine Yamal leave the club, even though the price tag of $267 million is very attractive for FC Barcelona. The fans would either prefer an even higher transfer fee or not sell one of the most exciting young talents in the world. There is so much trust in Yamal that there are talks that he may be Barcelona's new number 10.
Sport reports that Barça is considering Lamine Yamal for the number 10 shirt next season. But first, the club needs to reach the 1:1 rule to register him as a first-team player. The young star was given a lot of game time this past season, and the club could give him the shirt ahead of Ansu Fati, who last wrote the iconic number.
Lamine Yamal was recently asked about potentially wearing the number 10 shirt at FC Barcelona next season. Yamal was humble with his answer as he said, "The number 10 belongs to Ansu Fati; if he were not in the squad and they offered it to me, of course I would accept it, it is a dream for me."
