Former Borussia Dortmund player and German international, Kevin Grosskreutz, has expressed his shock and disappointment at Jürgen Klopp’s recent decision to become the Global Head of Football at Red Bull.

In a candid interview on the podcast 'Viertelstunde Fußball', Grosskreutz revealed his initial reaction to the news. "I woke up to 30 messages on my phone and thought, 'What happened?'" he said. "When I finally found out the reason, I couldn't believe it at first. I thought I was dreaming and then hoped it was fake news."

Once he realized the news was true, Grosskreutz admitted to feeling a mix of shock and sadness. "It was a shock and a sadness. In a way, I still haven't fully processed it. I'll tell him personally. I think no one expected it. It's very, very strange and I still can't understand it. However, he's a friend of mine whom I owe a lot to. I'll always be grateful."

Grosskreutz, who played under Klopp at Dortmund, expressed his belief that Klopp’s decision was unexpected and somewhat puzzling. “I think it’s a disaster! But as a friend, you have to accept such choices. When we meet, I’ll tell him personally that I think it’s a piece of s*** that he’s doing something like this. That’s a fact,” Grosskreutz stated.

The former Dortmund player’s outspoken criticism highlights the surprise and disappointment felt by many fans and former players at Klopp's move to Red Bull. While Grosskreutz acknowledged the positive impact Klopp had on his career, he was unable to reconcile this with Klopp’s decision to join a rival organization.
