Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that Gabriel Jesus could be in line for a starting spot after his impressive performances in recent matches. The Brazilian forward has been in fine form, scoring three goals in the Gunners' 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Speaking in a press conference, Arteta said, “Yes, it’s possible. With the players we have and the connection we can create, I think it’s very possible that we can have these kinds of situations. As I said before, I’m very happy with Gabriel’s performance and the team’s performance and most importantly the fact that we are in the semi-finals ”
Jesus's recent goalscoring form has come at a crucial time for Arsenal. The Gunners are currently third in both the Premier League and the Champions League, and they will be hoping to go one better than last season when they narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.
Arteta added, "From my point of view, the unity, the connection, and the fact that we are now competing for big trophies, something we haven’t done in the last few years, is positive. But there is still a lot to do."
The Brazilian's resurgence has given Arsenal a much-needed boost in attack. His ability to link up with his teammates and find the back of the net has been crucial to the team's success this season.
With Arsenal facing Crystal Palace again this weekend in the Premier League, it will be interesting to see if Arteta decides to start Jesus alongside Kai Havertz as he suggested. If the Brazilian can maintain his current form, he could become a key player for the Gunners in their quest for silverware this season.
