Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has undergone successful surgery to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. The Brazilian sustained the injury during the Gunners' FA Cup tie against Manchester United on January 12th.

"Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has undergone surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and the procedure was successful. The Arsenal player will now begin his rehabilitation," the player's agent confirmed.

The English club has not provided a timeline for the player's return, but it's expected that he will miss the remainder of the European season and could also miss the start of the next campaign.

“We will continue to keep everyone updated on Gabby’s recovery, with everyone at the club fully focused on supporting Gabby to ensure he returns to full fitness as quickly as possible,” the club said when confirming the injury on January 14th.

Gabriel Jesus Out for Season After Successful Surgery

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League with 44 points, six behind leaders Liverpool. In the Champions League, they are fifth in their group with 13 points and are still in contention for one of the eight spots that qualify directly for the next round.

Jesús' injury is a significant blow to Arsenal's title hopes. The Brazilian has been a key player for Mikel Arteta's side since joining from Manchester City last summer. His pace, power, and goal-scoring ability have made him a fan favorite at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners will now have to find a way to cope without their star striker for the rest of the season. Eddie Nketiah is likely to lead the line in Jesus' absence, but the young Englishman will have big shoes to fill.

Arsenal will also have to consider their options in the January transfer window. With Jesus out for an extended period, the club may need to bring in a new striker to bolster their attacking options.

The injury to Jesus is a major setback for Arsenal, but the club will be hoping that their other players can step up and fill the void.
