Following the end of the deadline for submitting presidential candidacies, with no other candidates stepping forward, Florentino Pérez has been unanimously proclaimed president of Real Madrid. This marks his seventh term at the helm of the club, continuing his leadership for another four years.

On January 7, Florentino Perez submitted his request to the Electoral Board to initiate the presidential election process. Ten days later, the board approved the only candidacy—the current president's—with the necessary documentation, including a presentation, a list of the proposed board members, and the electoral program. No bank guarantee was required, as per the club’s statutes.

Unbroken Leadership for 14 Years

This marks Perez’s fifth consecutive term without opposition, making it his seventh overall term since he began his second presidency in 2009, following a three-and-a-half-year break from football. Since then, no rival has emerged to challenge his position.

The Real Madrid Electoral Board made it official on Sunday, confirming Perez’s re-election and the application of the club’s statutes regarding the lack of candidacies. Perez’s new board will include vice presidents Eduardo Fernández de Blas, Pedro López Jiménez, Enrique Sánchez González, and Enrique Pérez Rodríguez, with José Luis del Valle as the secretary.

Pérez’s Historic Presidency

Florentino Perez’s tenure at Real Madrid, which began in the year 2000, has solidified his position as the club’s most successful president in history, surpassing even Santiago Bernabéu. Under his leadership, Real Madrid has won 65 titles across both football and basketball, including seven UEFA Champions League titles and three Euroleague titles in basketball.

Pérez first won the presidency in 2000, defeating Ramon Mendoza. He was re-elected in 2004 but resigned in 2006. After returning to the role in 2009, he has been re-elected without opposition, as no other candidate has been able to meet the stringent requirements set by the club, including a minimum of 20 years as a member and a financial guarantee of 15% of the club’s annual budget.
