FIFA gives US the best news, Real Madrid, Barça, Man City and more will soon arrive to US

Football or soccer in the United States is starting to grow year by year as more fans want to see the best teams play in stadiums across the country during friendly matches. Over the past couple of years, many European teams have played in the US during the summer as their preseason tour in preparation for the new season. Now thanks to FIFA, some big names like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona could play their league games in the United States, which will make the games more significant. L’ Équipe reports that FIFA is set to accept a new law that will allow leagues to play at least one match in their league campaign abroad. A Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, or Ligue 1 match could be played in the United States soon. The United States will be holding the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup next year, which will feature 32 teams, which will host teams like Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and more.

This news has received a lot of criticism as fans from these big teams do not want to travel abroad to watch a league match that could be crucial for a potential title race. Big clubs like the idea of playing abroad for a game since it will most likely generate lots of money at bigger stadiums with over 80,000 capacity. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is also receiving lots of criticism as it will be another big competition that could hurt player’s fitness.

The new format tournament will start on June 15th, 2025, and it will last until July 13th, 2025. Manchester City is the current defending champions after winning the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in December in a 4-0 win against Fluminense in the final.

Real Madrid will have a US tour this summer

The Champions League winner, Real Madrid, will have a preseason tour in the United States this summer. It will happen after the EUROS 2024, as they have three friendly matches in three big stadiums. On July 31st, Real Madrid will face AC Milan at Soldier Field. El Clasico against FC Barcelona will take place on August 3rd at the MetLife Stadium. Chelsea will be their final opponent on August 3rd at the Bank of America Stadium.
