The summer transfer window is underway, and some changes are already being made at FC Barcelona. The Catalan club will look to sign new players this summer despite their financial struggles, but they look to keep certain players in the squad next season who have made an impact on the pitch. FC Barcelona announced that Marcos Alonso would no longer be at the club next season and said farewell to the Spanish fullback. The club also announced that Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo will no longer continue at the club as well. These two Portuguese players are wanted by the club to play next season, but their loan deals have expired today, and they are back with their respective clubs. Fans were upset to hear the news since months of reports have suggested that Barcelona would attempt to sign them on another loan deal for next season or sign them permanently. Now there is hope as both announcements from Barcelona's official accounts have been deleted, unlike the Marcos Alonso announcement, making fans believe the Portuguese players will be Barcelona players next season.

The Catalan club not only deleted the posts of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo's departures, but they also removed their names from the statement they published in regards to the players who are leaving. Marcos Alonso's name is still on the club's website of players who have left today. This has fans thinking that FC Barcelona will not give up in attempting to bring Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo into the squad next season under their new manager, Hansi Flick.

Sources in Spain started to report that FC Barcelona had deleted the posts announcing the departures of Felix and Cancelo because they wanted both of them to continue. Joao Felix extended his contract with Atletico Madrid last summer as soon as he was joining Barcelona on loan. His contract expires on June 2029. Joao Cancelo's contract with Manchester City expires in the summer of 2027, but the English club seems desperate to sell him this summer. Joao Felix is also in a similar situation as Atletico Madrid is open to selling him this summer to the biggest bidder. With Barcelona's financial problems, it makes it difficult for them to sign both players permanently.
