On the day of El Clasico, FC Barcelona might be close to an agreement for a new sponsorship. This is great news for the club as the new sponsorship can help them generate more money at a time when the Catalan club is suffering economically. FC Barcelona will be playing Real Madrid today with their Nike-sponsored shirts.

Nike has been rumored to express its desire to part ways from football jerseys and remove themselves from their current partner clubs. Their relationship with Barca is growing apart, and the Catalan club is looking for another option. Nike's sponsorship with Barcelona dates back to 1998 when it replaced the Italian brand Kappa. The long partnership with the American brand could soon end sooner rather than later.

Like every season, kit designs are displayed on social media, and some rumors land a kit design currently for certain clubs. Clubs don't announce their new kits for the upcoming season until the summer or late in the season. A new kit design for Barca next season was discussed online. The kit included a black shirt with red and blue coloring on the sides and the Barca logo. Barca released a statement on the rumors of the kit.

"Barcelona wants to deny the information that has appeared in the press today about an alleged design of the away shirt for the 2024-25 season. The club denies that it has commissioned or approved this design as, mistakenly, it is being published on social networks, written media, and on the internet."

Puma and FC Barcelona are close to an agreement as negotiations are advanced

Puma has been rumored to become the new shirt sponsor for the Catalan club, and rumors today suggest the German company has advanced negotiations with Barca. Nike's deal with Barca is ending in 2026 with a chance to extend till 2028, but the Catalan club might consider terminating the contract with the American company.

A quick termination of the contract can leave Barca without penalty by giving a two-year' notice. According to Sport, Puma is willing to pay €200m a year, which could reach €300m with add-ons; the deal will be for 10 years.
