Lionel Scaloni has become an even bigger legend for the Argentina people as he guided Argentina to another Copa America trophy in three years. Scaloni also won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the national team as the head coach, and he is set to continue for much longer.

He was questioned before this tournament began this summer as he didn't call up Paulo Dybala, arguably one of the best players from Argentina who plays in Europe. Dybala was essential for AS Roma this past season where they reached the Europa League semi finals, and no fans questioned his participation in the 2024 Copa America, but he was not part of the event, which was very surprising. Dybala may have felt disappointed, but he was still very happy to see Argentina win another Copa America.

The AS Roma player posted on his Instagram story a picture of the Argentina national team lifting the trophy and wrote, " How amazing it is to see this group [of players] lifting a trophy." Scaloni talked about Dybala after the win against Colombia in the final and said, "Paulo Dybala has been a really special guy, and not bringing him breaks my heart.”

Scaloni defended his decision to keep Dybala out of the final list fo players to play in the 2024 Copa America this summer. Scaloni said, "Dybala didn't come because of positional issues and the list we have in mind. There are some players we need to evaluate due to their physical conditions." It didn't turn out to backfire since Argentina won the tournament in the end.

Scaloni was asked about his future after winning the Copa America with Argentina again, and he said:

"It continues. If you win, it continues, and if you don't win, it continues just the same. That's the way to approach it.

At some point, it will break, and the beauty is in getting up and rebuilding. If someday we lose, the beauty would be in rebuilding."

Lionel Scaloni's funny proposal for the Argentina FA

Scaloni looks set to stay as the manager of the Argentina national team, and after the success he has had with the team, he makes a wild proposal. Scaloni said, "For now, I have 2 more years in my contract. We should tell the president to sign me for 15 years and I'll sign."
